Company set up to manufacture acids and other chemicals in Marseille and then Lyon. Probably the largest and most integrated in pre-Revolutionary France with a capital of 1.2 million livres and 40 shareholders, both French and foreign. In late 1793 the Lyon plant was closed and dismantled after the defeat of the Lyon insurrection and the buildings in Marseille confiscated. Vincent was executed and Janvier went into exile.
