“Situating Chemistry” is an international network for collaborative research which was initially funded with a grant from the Humanities Internationalization Programme of The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). Situating Chemistry was established in the autumn of 2012 to examine chemistry as a contextually situated, hybrid field of material and knowledge production.

16/6/05: Berthe and Delacroix buy land at Petit Quevilly to set up a sulphuric acid works.
Late 1805: D & PF Maletra set up a sulphuric acid plant in the middle of the plaine de Quevilly
8/8/07: Berthe, now described as a platrier, sells his share in the land he and Delacroix purchased on 16/6/05, but not the buildings they added, to Delacroix.
late 1809: D and Maletra split and Maletra sets up on his own nearby.
Jun-Aug 1831: His factory is advertised for sale.
