-1759: commercial agent for Manufactories of copperas and involvement in a sulphuric acid works, possibly in London. In 1781 he claimed 30 years of experience in manufacture of copperas, sulphuric and nitric acids and that he had directed various works under his company's name for 20 years. 1759-70: acid works in Brussels. 1774-87: partner in chemical works in Honfleur. 1781, in Paris, requested permission to set up a copperas factory in Amiens, to which he then added sulphuric and nitric acids--tests carried out. His partners refused funding and the venture did not proceed--litigation between them until 1787.
